DIACs, SIDACs

DIACs and SIDACs also known as symmetrical trigger diodes or silicon diodes are two-terminal semiconductor devices (A1, A2) that are triggered into conduction after the voltage between their terminals reaches the breakover voltage Vbo regardless of the voltage polarity (hence the symmetrical response and their use in AC circuits). They continue to conduct until the current through the device falls below the holding current.
